On Saturday, June 18, 2023, Jacques Rougeau Jr., a 29-year-old trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, tragically lost his life.

According to state police reports, a tragic incident unfolded in Juniata County, resulting in the unfortunate death of 29-year-old Trooper Jacques Rougeau Jr.

The chain of events commenced when a man engaged with state troopers shortly after 11 am. The details of Jacques Rougeau Jr.’s obituary have not been made public or disclosed.

Reportedly, the man armed himself with a rifle and arrived at the Troop G, Lewistown station.

Once there, he fired shots at patrol vehicles in the parking lot, instigating a dangerous situation. This prompted an extensive search for the shooter, which included the reinforcement of helicopters.

Authorities identified the shooter as 38-year-old Brandon Stine, hailing from Thompsontown, Juniata County.

Later in the afternoon, Trooper Wagner managed to locate Stine, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Tragically, Stine’s shot critically wounded Wagner.

Sometime after that, Rougeau encountered Stine while driving through the county.

During this encounter, Stine fired a fatal shot through the trooper’s car windshield, tragically ending his life.
