Vonnie Lisa Lawrence Morrison Metropolitan Funeral
“Oh happy day” on Friday, November 24, 2023, our Sovereign Lord and Savior dispatched the morning train from glory to receive our precious Vonnie Lisa Lawrence Morrison.
Lisa, as she was fondly and affectionately called by family and friends was born to the late Raymond and Gladys Hunt Lawrence. Her sister and precious sibling, Rev. Andrea Lawrence also preceded her in death.
She was educated through Suffolk School System. Lisa was a graduate from Forrest Glenn High School, of class of 1982. Lisa was previously employed with Gwaltney Foods and worked at Unilever at the time of her death.
Vonnie was a loving wife, mother, sister, and Grand Nan who displayed a swag and style that attracted many friends and loved ones; some of whom fondly reverenced and respected her as their “Ma.”
As with the roots of a tree, her fruit of love are deeply connected and will remain forever in the lives many, especially with her husband McKinley Morrison III and their children, Rayshon Lawrence (Freda), Jabari Wilson (Alicia), McKinley Morrison IV, and Sharnay Morrison.
It was no secret that one of Vonnie’s proudest accomplishments was being “Nan” to her beloved and beautiful grandchildren. She loved them with an everlasting love and cherished every moment spent in their presence. Her support for them was truly amazing and appreciated by Ashley, Rayshon Jr, Namir, Navy, Jayden, Jeremiah, Amoni, Jabari Jr., McKinley IV, Jocquin, Jamier, Autumn, A’riyah, and Koi, who were the soft spots of her heart.
Many have found themselves to be recipients of her unique style and smile, however,
her siblings William Hunt (Virginia), Bessie Hunt, Gladys Hunt, Alan Ray Hunt (Cheryl), Katrina Carty (Stefan), Pamela Reid (Greg), Derek Lawrence (Gershon), all say “Tell the Lord thank you” for having been able to share in such an awesome and amazing life.
Lisa is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and three awesome aunts: Mrs. Evelyn Copeland, Mrs. Mary Virginia Parker, and Ms. Georgia Jones, along with an extended family and friends.
To her special sister friends Nikki, Nae, Reba, Teresa, and Valarie to name a few
Vonnie says:
“Thank you for being a friend. Traveled down the road and back again
Your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidant
And if you threw a party, invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say “Thank you for being a friend.”
She exemplified a sacrificial and selfless spirit of blessing others in many areas on her spiritual journey. Without doubt, Vonnie has sown countless seeds of love in the lives of her family and friends that will forever grow and bloom in our hearts. Some of her happiest times
were spent with the fun-loving and energetic Seniors of Oak Grove Baptist Church. It was an honor for her to faithfully serve them on many occasions with laughter, love, excitement, and enjoyment.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. St. Matthew 25:23
