Lorde unveils new single 'Green Light' and announces sophomore album
Lorde is back and ready to take the music industry by storm once again. The singer has just unveiled a brand new single called ‘Green Light’, and it’s completely exceeded our expectations.
Yesterday, Lorde took to Twitter to tease the track, revealing that it will perhaps surprise some people as it’s ‘very different, and kinda unexpected’.

Speaking of the song, the singer told ZM’s Fletch, Vaughan and Megan: “It’s totally a song about heartbreak. I’ve never been really good at writing songs about relationships.
“It’s more about finding yourself through that situation. You go through the thing and it’s so awful and you just wish you could let go. The green light thing is saying ‘I’m not okay right now but I’m going to be okay’.”
To coincide with the release of ‘Green Light’, she also unveiled a music video for the track. Directed by Grant Singer, the video sees Lorde cut loose by dancing through the streets, on top of a cab and in a variety of other locations. The song and its video perfectly captures what we can expect from the new era of music from the singer.
‘Green Light’ is the first track to be lifted from Lorde’s sophomore album, Melodrama, which is yet to have a confirmed release date. Her debut album, Pure Heroine, was released in 2013, and included her global smash hit ‘Royals’.
We’re already excited for this new era of music from Lorde. With a seemingly new sound to her name, we can’t wait to hear what else her album will bring in the near future.
‘Green Light’ is available to download and stream now.
