Heartbroken family of Scots toddler killed after being hit by car to sue driver
The heartbroken family of a Scots toddler who was killed after being hit by a car are taking legal action against the driver.
Robyn Knox died after being struck by a blue Nissan Micra in Townhill, near Dunfermline, in August 2020. The three-year-old, from Cardenden in Fife, was rushed to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but passed away a short time later. No one else was injured in the crash.
The driver did not face criminal prosecution.
Robyn's dad Barry and mum Danielle Falconer were left "shattered" by her death, and have now launched legal action against the car’s driver through the civil courts.

In a statement released through lawyers Digby Brown, her parents said they were “committed to getting the justice Robyn’s family deserved”.
Innes Laing, partner at Digby Brown in Kirkcaldy, said: “I can confirm a legal action has now been raised in relation to the truly devastating loss of Robyn. No criminal action was taken against the driver however a lack of prosecution does not prevent people from seeking justice via the civil courts.
“The legal action is in the early stages so we cannot comment on specific details but we are committed to ensuring Robyn’s family get the answers and recognition they deserve.”
Robyn died when she was hit after leaving a shop. The Record previously told how horrified passers-by helped perform first aid on the stricken youngster before she was rushed to hospital.
A 30ft mural of Robyn was later unveiled in her honour near the scene of the crash.
Robyn’s mum Danielle previously said she and Barry would “forever remember the loving, kind, gentle and caring wee soul that blessed our lives with the biggest heart of gold”.
Following the tragic incident she wrote: “We are absolutely shattered into a million pieces and there are absolutely no words to describe how we feel at this moment in time.
“Robyn was the best thing to ever happen to us. We were blessed with the most beautiful baby girl and we will forever remember her that way.
“She is the most loving, kind, gentle and caring wee soul with the biggest heart. She was super excited to be a big sister at the end of this year and we will make sure her baby twins know about her and speak about her everyday."
Months after the incident Danielle gave birth to twins Robin-Junior and River.
