Eliaz became Shawn Mendes’ fan in 2013 and since then, he has been a loyal advocate of the artist. It is his sheer dedication that made his account, a go-to place for fans to update themselves about the singer’s activities. When there was a lack of medium for people, he became one for them and has actively been one for years.

This year, @ShawnMendesFans account has bagged the award for “Best Fan Account”. CelebMix sat with the admin to trace his journey since he began his endeavour and discussed what future holds for him. Check out the interview below:

When did you start @ShawnMendesFans and what compelled you to make a fan account?

I joined Twitter in 2011, when I was 13 years old.

How has owning a fan account impacted your life?

Owning a fan account impacted my life in a great positive way as it got me closer to the people I look up to. My fan account gave me the chance to meet Shawn as the iHeartRadio gave me the opportunity to meet and see him for the first time last year at the 2017 iHeart Radio Awards. I will forever be grateful for this, miracles happen.

What does being a fan account mean to you?

A fan account to me means an account where you just show your love to that person you support and interact with others from the fanbase. It’s fun having a fan account since you can feel closer to the celebrity by knowing what’s going on with them.

What do you enjoy most about @ShawnMendesFans?

I really love having this account because I get to update my followers on what’s happening with Shawn.

Give us a quick break down on the daily life of being a fan account?

You always have to be updating on what’s going on, it can sometimes be hard to update right away. For me, I try my best as I’m the owner and only person running @ShawnMendesFans. I go to college and work, but give it my best to update my followers.

What do you love most about Shawn Mendes?

I love everything about Shawn. I love how every single of his songs has a big meaning. What’s crazy about me and him is that we both have the same birthday, but I’m older for a year.

When did you become a fan? How did you hear about him?

I became a fan of Shawn in 2013. I remember he released LOTP (Life Of The Party) in 2014 and I wanted to hear more from him. I found out about him through the Vine app as he became super popular from that platform.

Do you like collaborating with other accounts or have you ever collaborated with other accounts? Would you consider it if you haven’t?

I do like collaborating with other accounts. I have done it twice, it was with a UK library and the TMRW Magazine. They contacted me and asked if I wanted to collaborate with them to give away some copies. I enjoyed doing these two giveaways.

Was there ever a point down the road where you wanted to delete @ShawnMendesFans? If so, what made you want to keep the account instead of deleting it?

No, I love my account so much and have a lot of love for Shawn.

What was your first reaction when you found out you had been nominated for a CelebMix Twitter Fandom Award, and what was your reaction when you found out you won?

I had no idea, but it’s honestly amazing. I find this really, really cool as this to me means that people love my account and enjoy my updates. This makes me really happy.

Where do you see @ShawnMendesFans in the upcoming years? Do you think you’ll still be interacting with others through your account?

I have no idea, I know I will still be here but I’m excited to see what Shawn has for all his fans. Of course, I love interacting with my followers. I always get DMs and reply to them. Some of them ask me for help to purchase some merchandise or just to talk. I reply to anything.
